The Art of Listening
Immerse yourself in sensory sound art with this family-friendly performance by music and multimedia artist, Sika.
Take time out as a family as the summer holidays get underway. Connect with nature and music, and get swept away by the sounds of New Zealand and Australia with Sika, an international pioneer of Sound Journeys.
11am – 12pm
Sika’s beloved collection of instruments includes Māori Taonga Puoro (singing treasures) interwoven with drum, didgeridoo and nature sounds recorded in the wild. Learn about the significance of the instruments as you are guided in this mesmerising sound installation.
Sika’s work is endorsed by significant Māori and Aboriginal Elders. He is humbled to share their instruments with people around the world.
The Benjamin West Lecture Theatre, is a newly purpose built auditorium with tiered seating for 200 people. It has phenomenal spatial acoustics and is an ideal venue to sit, watch and listen to Sika perform.
Tickets are just £10 for each performance.
Children under 2 years of age go free but cannot occupy their own seat.
